Every photographer strives for those ‘special’ shots where everything is just right. Right place, right time, right settings. On Canada Day (July 1), young photographer Candace Cunning achieved just that. Her fantastic shot of Canada Day fireworks lighting up the skies of Corner Brook, Newfoundland (population 19,886) has gone viral, amassing over 245,000 views on Flickr.
Her sudden popularity has led to much adulation and a flood of print requests. In fact she’s received so many requests for prints, she’s partnered with the JL Gallery to help fulfil orders! Here’s the details on how she got the shot:
Camera: Canon 5D Mark II
Lens: 35 mm, 1.4 prime
Shutter speed: 1/6 second
Aperture: 1.4
ISO: 1,600
Minor adjustment to white balance
Keep up the great work Candace! Congratulation on your first big hit! Here’s to many more to come ;)
